The Truth About Salt

Unrefined salt (often called table salt) is the salt harvested from seawater, which is used in cooking and baking. This salt was the most common salt in the world until the discovery of refined salt, which was made by the Romans more than 2 thousand years ago. With the discovery of table salt, humanity began the long process of refining salt for use in cooking and baking. Today salt has become almost ubiquitous. Almost everybody uses processed salt. Table salt can be bought in retail stores, grocery stores, and in many drugstores.

Because the salt has gone through a process known as “salting out”, it will lose all of its beneficial minerals and electrolytes. Essentially, this means that salt becomes a substance which is no longer healthy for you to eat. Unrefined salt contains more than 80 natural minerals and substances which are extremely good for your body. The problem with the salt is that it has gone through a complex chemical process known as “cation”. Cationic salts include substances like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium, which cause the salt to become sticky and unrefined.

In order to understand how unrefined salt becomes acidic, we must understand what happens in our bodies when we ingest it. When we eat food, the food passes through our digestive tract. Small meals break down the food at different rates, some being more watery and others containing more acid. As the food breaks down, the water and some of the acid are absorbed into the bloodstream where they are converted to carbon dioxide and other forms of waste which are exhaled through the mouth and lungs.

However, some types of food are naturally more alkaline than others. It has been proven that unrefined salt does not contain enough acidic minerals to provide benefits that benefit your health in any way. For example, sea salt and baking soda are much more alkaline than table salt. This is why most people prefer baking soda as their toothbrush and toothpaste replacement. The effects of this ionic imbalance can be seen in the human body as it tends to accumulate in the soft tissue throughout the body, promoting the formation of acne and other skin problems.

It is for these reasons that experts advise against the use of unrefined salt in the diet. However, the salt that is most recommended by health experts and naturopathic doctors to use on a regular basis is rock salt or sodium chloride. Not only is it healthier for you to consume, it actually has the ability to lower your blood pressure and lower your cholesterol levels.

Unlike refined sugars and starches, which are derived from plant foods, sodium chloride contains no calories, which makes it much easier for the human body to absorb. This makes it important for diabetics and people who have kidney disease to limit their sodium intake to below grams per day, which is the amount contained in unrefined salt. As a result, they can enjoy the benefits of reduced blood pressure, lowered cholesterol and reduced risk of osteoporosis, as well as other serious health conditions. The list of trace minerals contained in unrefined salt includes calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, silicon and manganese, along with a host of vitamins and minerals.

While brine water is the salt of choice for a brine tank, unrefined salt can still be used for other purposes, such as in breads and crackers, as well as a wide variety of food products. It is best that you choose a salt that is made from filtered sea water so that you get the full benefits of the trace minerals it contains. In fact, a lot of health-conscious individuals choose brine water to prepare meals because it is so rich in essential minerals. To get the full benefit of unrefined salt, it is important to make sure that you rinse off any salt residue that you may have applied to your food before eating. The next time you cook, make sure you rinse off your salt and only use sea salt or Himalayan salt.

There are two types of salt – sodium chloride and unrefined salt – and each has its own set of essential minerals that make it a better choice for your health than regular table salt. To get the full benefits of real salt, it is best to purchase it at a salt store or a supplier who sells organic products. You may also find it more convenient to purchase your salt online, as many health retailers sell organic products direct.
