Health Benefits of Unrefined Salt

Natural Salt is different from any ordinary salt in the world. Its naturally sweet, hardly ever salty, naturally white sea salt which makes each salt to taste delicious. The first time try unrefined natural sea salt, try any other salt first. The difference will amaze you!

unrefined salt

All natural unrefined salt contains three essential minerals: sodium (often called sodium chloride), magnesium and potassium. Sodium is the most important mineral because it is needed for body fluids, muscle contractions and salt dissolving. Magnesium and potassium are also found naturally in fruits and vegetables.

Salt crystallization occurs when there is an excess of one of the minerals, so it is important to balance the mineral content. Fresh unrefined salt has a higher mineral content than table salt. Table salt is high in sodium and because the body can’t absorb it all the way, it gets excreted from the body in its waste form, in your stool. That is why it has a shorter shelf life.

Iodine, calcium and potassium are also found naturally in sea salt, unrefined. You can get these essential minerals from dried fish, nuts, seeds and seaweeds. Unfortunately, these natural elements are removed during the refining process. During the refining process, sodium and potassium are removed along with other elements that are not necessary. They are called “bleached” or “devitalized” salt and have no beneficial health effects on blood pressure, cholesterol or blood pressure levels.

Sodium chloride is one of the salt elements that occurs naturally. This salt is used for its cleansing properties and as an antiseptic. Sodium chloride occurs naturally in fresh waters and is known as sea salt, brine salt, or potassium chloride. This salt is low in magnesium, but high in potassium and calcium, which makes it particularly beneficial for regulating blood pressure. Some people even believe that it lowers bad cholesterol!

There are two types of salt that naturally occur. One type is highly processed commercial grade salt. The other kind is unrefined sea salt. Unrefined sea salt has a higher mineral content than commercial grade salt. Since it is highly processed, it has lost most of the minerals in the process of refining it.

In addition to the above, there are other beneficial nutrients in salt including trace minerals, magnesium and potassium. Many of these elements are lost during the refinement process. As a result, an intake of naturally occurring salt may be more beneficial to your health. It can increase your nutrient intake and improve your cardiovascular system and it is also known to protect you against various types of cancer.

High levels of iodine are found in fish and seaweed and some people even recognize iodine from its distinctive smell. However, because the iodine is removed during the refinement process, the recommended daily intake of iodine may actually be too low! The recommended daily intake of iodine for the prevention of iodine deficiency is just half of one teaspoon for every 100 grams of body weight. Studies have shown that unrefined salt is just as effective in the prevention of iodine deficiency as dietary supplements with natural plant iodine such as seaweed, goiter removal tablets, and iodine supplements.

The unrefined salt also contains trace amounts of manganese and copper. Trace amounts of these minerals are required by the body to function well. In fact, iodine deficiency is a serious problem because the body cannot absorb enough of the minerals for its use. For this reason, experts suggest that people with iodine deficiency switch to unrefined salt.

Unprocessed salt has also been proven to increase the level of certain minerals like sodium, potassium, phosphorus, iodine and calcium in the blood. These minerals are important for our immune system. They help strengthen it and make our bones and muscle stronger. If not processed, they will leave the body through urine and can even enter the water system.

Another benefit of unprocessed salt is its high level of sodium. This makes it useful for increasing the fluid content of our body. Therefore, when taking a bath, we can safely take more salt than what we normally do. The sodium will help keep us from getting dehydrated.
